Champion shuttler Thilini Sudhara Jayasinghe represented Sri Lanka at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and had the distinction of doing so at

the London Olympics in 2012, having qualified on merit. Thilini, a former National Champion was the first badminton player to represent Sri Lanka at the Olympics when she competed in Beijing in 2008.

Thilini started her badminton career at the age of nine as a schoolgirl and competed in her first national tournament at the age of 13. She soon established herself as a champion winning a series of tournaments, at school, provincial and national level. She has won many trophies and badges including from the Central Province Badminton Association, Kandy, the Sri Lanka Schools Badminton Association among many others.

We publish here a photograph of Thilini with all her medals taken at Laxman’s Studio, Kandy.
