Lyceum Nugegoda emerge U-15 soccer champs
View(s):Lyceum International School Nugegoda bagged the Under-15 International Schools Soccer Championship, after beating counterparts Lyceum International Wattala 3-2 in a penalty shootout of a tense final, played at the Kelaniya Football Complex last Wednesday. 
Lyceum Nugegoda retained the championship for the second occasion. As the game ended in a goalless draw at the end of the allocated time, organisers had to determine the winners through a penalty shootout where five shots each were awarded to both teams. At the beginning of the shootout, Lyceum Wattala led by two goals to nil, but by the end Lyceum Nugegoda bounced back to convert their latter attempts.
Abdullah Faril of Lyceum Nugegoda won the Best Player award while Duvindu Perera of Lyceum Wattala won the Best Goalkeeper’s award. Manodya Premathilaka, Vishene de Silva, Avinash Perera, Sanjana Gunawardane, Binuk Thambavita, Poorna Lokuarachchi, Shaheer Riyad, Isal Saparamadu, Danidu de Costa, Shewanka Seneviratna, Himath Weraduwa, Mihin Lokuge, Ravindu Weerakoon, Isanka Dissanayake, Adisha Adhikaram, Bethmin Siriwardane, Rusith Dissanayake, Sachira Aluthwela, Yoonus Rouf and Abulla Faril were the members of the victorious team.
Sarath Jayasinghe, Nishantha Silva, Masith Adarsh and Upul Peiris coached the winning Lyceum Nugegoda footballers, being ably assisted by Supun Kanchana and Chanaka Prasad, the teachers-in-charge. The tournament was organised by Royal Institute Colombo. – NA
