The results of a joint Business Times-Research Consultancy Bureau (RCB) poll on the impact of the cost of living on people and the popularity of the government will be published next week.

The poll was conducted in the regions of the North Central, Northern, Western, Southern, North Western, Central, Uva, Sabaragamuwa and Eastern among nearly 3,000 respondents.

An email poll was separately conducted by the Business Times. The questions asked in both polls were; would the cost of living (COL) rise this year and if so in what areas. Respondents were asked to name five most critical areas. Respondents were also asked whether the rise, if there is one, would sharp or marginal, and would any rise in COL affect the popularity of the Government. Due to the wide reach of the poll across Sri Lanka and the complex data that was collected, the results have been delayed as the data is being fully analysed to reach a scientific conclusion.

The results thus would be announced exclusively in next week’s Business Times issue.
