The Blue Skies AMI Montessori House of Children at Battaramulla was opened on September 10 with co-principals Nadine Shums and Uzmila Fayaz at the helm.

“We provide a prepared environment for two to five year-olds that not only focuses on helping them to read and write but also on building life skills. Reading and writing comes to them naturally when they are ready for it. The key thing is to wait for and recognize the signs and then cater to this need.

As a society we sometimes put undue pressure on our children to excel in reading and writing but we believe that though this is important there are other developmental needs for this age group which are equally important such as building self confidence, gaining independence, caring for their environment and each other and learning graces and courtesies,” said Nadine explaining their philosophy.
