The High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Sri Lanka, Seema Ilahi Baloch hoisted the National Flag in an impressive ceremony at the Pakistan High Commission in Colombo. Subsequently, the messages of the President, Prime Minister and the High Commissioner of Pakistan were read out.

Kantha unfurled the National Flag, followed by the rendering of the National Anthem by ladies of the High ommission and the Indian community.The High Commissioner then inspected the Guard of Honour presented by the BSF contingent and read out excerpts from the Address to the Nation on the Eve of Independence Day by the President of India, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee.
