Wärtsilä, a global leader in complete lifecycle power solutions and services, recently opened a new propeller metallurgical repair facility in Wattala. The new repair facility enables Wärtsilä Sri Lanka to offer a wide range of services with rapid response times.

“The new propeller repair facility strengthens our service offerings to Colombo Dockyard, Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Port Authority, local shipping customers and other vessels visiting Sri Lanka. Our customers will benefit from the increased range of services we now can provide”, noted Sudhir Singhal, Service Unit Director for South Asia, Wärtsilä Corporation.

The facility, located in Wattala, is equipped with overhead cranes, advanced machining equipments, testing devices and the latest technology of service tools.  The services offered include full repair operations of propulsion systems, as well as propeller welding, straightening, grinding, propeller balancing, heat treatments after repair and super polishing of propellers.
