Cook your own meals with Koluu

“A friend of mine once told me she had a dinner date where the man wore his Bluetooth headset at the dinner table, and she had to ask him to take it off. This type of behaviour, I think, signals the end of civilization. What better way than cooking to get us back to this apparently lost art of real communication and interaction? It is not that hard to cook a truly tasty quality meal. You don’t need to be a master chef,” says Koluu.

Koluu’s Cook Up is an annual event which aims to introduce the unitiated in cooking on how to cook food the easy way without thinking it a tiresome chore. “It is sad to know that people stop on their way home and buy pre-cooked food from various food outlets for that night’s meal. While this is convenient, it is not the healthiest option available.”

This season’s cook up will be a variation of new recipes Koluu has experimented with over the past year. All ingredients are available locally. Salads that could also be considered starters or even the main meal, quick easy pastas and noodles and main courses with meats, poultry and seafood are what he would be teaching this time.

Elephant House will be associated with this year’s Cook Up. Koluu will introduce a quick recipe on how to turn their product into a quick and easy meal and on the last day of the Cook Up, participants will be introduced to Elephant House’s new range of sausages and sauces which will be out in the market soon thereafter.

“This year’s four-day Cook Up will be a feast of learning the art of cooking and then tasting and enjoying the food,” says Koluu.

Classes will be held on Saturday afternoons commencing June 23 at the Lemon Restaurant in Colombo 7. For enrolment- contact Capello Salon, 07, Havelock Place or Leo Burnett Solutions 379, R.A.De Mel Mawatha or for further details call Shivi on 0777312558.
