A memorable evening

One of the most fun filled evenings was seen to come alive last Friday of May at the Grand Ballroom of the Galadari Hotel with everyone bursting out spontaneously into song while still others were clicking their fingers to the rhythm and beat of Nalin and the Star Combination.

Nalin and the Star Combination proved their prowess at music making in no uncertain terms. It was the much advertised ‘Sing-A-Long’ put together in aid of the Denipitiya Medical Mission which is a Government Approved Charity. At the tables were bright conversations with the occasional exclamation of ‘one more.’ On the floor, as the evening progressed, were dance lovers who grabbed their partners and let their hair down.

The evergreen Sinhala Pop Star, Annesley Malawana, stepped up during the latter part of the evening to provide a scintillating performance that kept everyone agog. Master Compere, Vijaya Corea, kept the show going in his inimitable style with the occasional injection of humour as he called out the names of a number of prize winners upon whom lady luck had smiled brightly.

It was a full-house with tickets having sold out five days ahead. Many who delayed truly missed out on an evening packed with fun and joy while as many as were present went away so fulfilled saying : ‘The next time we see the same artwork in an advertisement, we will definitely be there!” while another was quick to quip : “Provided you buy your tickets early!’ - WC
