Lanka Bobbit toll rises to 4

A day after a woman bit off the penis of her barber lover, police said yesterday they were hunting for a female prostitute who is alleged to have mutilated the sex organs of at least three males in the Matara District.

All four victims are being treated at the Matara Hospital. According to police the barber lost part of his male organ after he had a heated argument with the woman said to be his lover over a financial matter.

In the case of the other three men, police were investigating if there is any link between the three attacks.
The case has echoes of American John Bobbit, whose wife Lorena cut off his penis with a kitchen knife in 1993. She later claimed in the court that she suffered from years of physical and mental abuse.
