Discussion on 'what happens in boardrooms"

What do boards of directors discuss at their meetings today? Finance, governance and control issues or marketing strategies to drive the business?

According to the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Sri Lanka Region, professionally qualified marketers today are seeking their due place in the 'C-Suites' and Boards. "It's time for professional Marketers to take wheel at the helm of companies and their seat on Boards, but have they equipped themselves as well-rounded generalists to command respect within the Boardroom?" CIM asked in a media release. These issues, relevant to company directors as well as marketers, will come to the fore at a forum on "Driving Marketing in the Boardroom" organized by the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors (SLID) in partnership with The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Sri Lanka Region. The event will take place on Wednesday, 15th May at the Oak Room Cinnamon Grand, Colombo.

The panelists are - Chairman Unilever Sri Lanka and former President CIM Sri Lanka, Amal Cabraal, Commissioner Sri Lanka Inventors Commission, former CEO Aviva Insurance and former President SLIM, Deepal Sooriyarachchi, Chairman and CEO Bates Strategic Alliance, former President SLIM and 4As, former Chair Chartered Marketer Task Force CIM Sri Lanka, Nimal Gunewardena, and Director Aitken Spence and President CIM Sri Lanka Dr. Rohan Fernando. CEO Overseas Realty Ceylon PLC and Vice President SLID, Pravir Samarasinghe, will moderate the panel discussion.
