Lanka Dancesport Council together with Footwork Events will be organizing Dancefest 2012, a dance Championship of Ballroom, Latin American and Salsa dancing on the 29 April at Galadari Hotel.
This will be the first competition to be organized by the newly formed the Lanka Dancesport Council (LDC).
Three World Dance Council licensed Adjudicators from Singapore and Malaysia will be adjudicating at the event.
Malaysian Amateur Latin and Ballroom Dance Champions Johnston Lim and Nicole Tan will be brought down to perform a 10 Dance Latin American and Ballroom show at the event.
Only 8 months old, the LDC has already made huge inroads in uplifting the competitive dance industry, over 200 members, majority of reputed teachers and trainers have joined LDC.
‘Our main mission is to evolve competitive dance in Sri Lanka to a form so sophisticated that it develops into a national sport” said Dharshan Wijesooriya, Founder and President of the Lanka Dancesport Council.
More than 150 competitors from leading Dance Schools have already entered the Dancefest 2012 competition. This includes 25 junior couples who will take part in Junior under 12 and 16 events.
There will be 20 events in total including Seniors, Beginners, Novices, Pre Amateur, Rising Star and Amateur.
The tickets for the event is priced at Rs.3000/-, Rs.4000/- Rs.5000/- and will be available at Footwork Events, and at Galadari Hotel.
