The California Maki, also known as the California roll hails from the maki-zushi range.
The roll is usually made inside-out and contains cucumber, crabmeat and avocado rolled up in sticky rice, sprinkled with sesame seeds and wrapped in a sheet of seaweed. A popular style of sushi in the US and other countries, the California Roll has been influential in sushi’s global popularity and in inspiring sushi chefs around the world in creating non-traditional fusion cuisine.
