About the Medical/ Health Science Seminar
The seminar will be focusing on the increasing demand for medical graduates for Sri Lanka & overseas which increase every year . Limited supply from Sri lankan university system creates a high demand for foreign medical graduates in Sri Lanka. SLMC accepts only limited universities as approved course providers in medicine. The degrees obtained by these Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) is merely a certification of successful completion of a specified course the field of medicine. In most countries the degree alone does not empower the graduate to practice medicine, and in Sri Lanka – Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) requires all FMGs to take the Examination for Registration to Practice Medicine (ERPM) in Sri Lanka (Formerly ACT16). However only the FMGs who have graduated from medical schools recognized by the SLMC are allowed to apply for ERPM. A list of such recognized schools is yearly updated and available free of charge to the public at the SLMC. SLMC accepts only limited universities as appropriate course providers in Medicine.
