Stephen champs at St. Anthony’s Wattala Inter-House sports meet

After a close battle for leadership, Stephen House, managed to oust Callistus House by 26 points to emerge champions at the annual inter-house sports meet of St. Anthony’s College Wattala.
The meet was held last Friday (20) at the school’s premises.

The victorious Stephen house accumulated 239 points whereas Callistus house, who has been winning the championship continuously for the past four years were able to gather 213 points. With 203 points Vinson House finished third followed by Austin House who obtained 98 points overall.

The boys’ school which has a force of 3000 students saw over 2500 sportsmen from the fourth grade and above participate at the meet. A highlight of this year’s sports meet was the well organised drill display which was keenly presented by over 250 students of the school.

The champion house was led by Nilan Chaghuranga with Lloyd Parakrama as his Games Captain. Callistus Ishan Nirmal captained Callistus House while Sudarshana Sanjeewa, as the Games Captain dis his best.

Vinson House was led by Hasitha Asanka and Jerome Rodney was the Games Captain while Chamin Fernando and Russell Rohan could not help their house, Austin. Distinguished old boys of St.
Anthony’s College, Wattala Dalton Janaka Sooriyabandara was the chief guest while Gamini Amarasekara was the guest of honour.
