Cricket mentor

Cricket fans in Sri Lanka are heart broken over the Test match results in South Africa. An insider says that the leader should take the blame as he cannot make decisions without consulting his mentor. In the game they lost the leader had consulted his metor who had apparently given the order despite winning the toss. The result was a defeat inside four days. Cricket lovers are now wondering who this so called ‘mentor’ could be.

Sports Act

The sports scene is abuzz with the Sports Act which is to be introduced in Parliament in the near future. Now who could the worried lot be? Most of the worried lot are those who are holding high posts in certain governmental organizations. If the new act comes into being high governmental big wigs will not be able to cling on to these positions in sports bodies. Those who are going to be badly affected are now seeking legal action so that they can cling on to these sports.

Yala adventure

A leading sports body conducted a training stint in the jungles of Yala so that their workers will be able to handle all kinds of things in different situations. The stint was more of a fun affair and those who were involved in a jungle safari type of adenture than handling any stressful situation. Recently those who are new to the scene came across a set of certificates which should have been handed over to those who attended the Yala expedition. The certificates were gathering dust at a table. Now plans are underfoot to distribute them even at this late hour.

Old wine, new bottle

It looks as if it is the same old wine in a new bottle at a leading sports body. This chap who is well known for his lonely vigils is back at it again. He wants to do everything despite the fact that there are others too who could do the task. Not so long ago a pressman wanted to question a player but this guy appeared from nowhere and said that this cannot be done. What is the role of the pressmen now? Will the same old antics be formed by this new body as well?

Merry-go-round to continue

The Sports Act which will come into effect in the near future is bothering a lot of people. Those who are supporting this act are also trying to spoil it. Those in the know say that these guys are acting like the two pronged snake (depath nai). From one side they are supporting it and from the other they are trying to stop it… so that the same old merry-go-round can continue.

Big Father’s advice

The scene shifts to Moratuwa where a well known cricket coach has been over looking the performances of a young cricketer because of a grudge that he has been harnessing, most probably, over the lad’s parents. The Big Father in the institution had come to know of this and had advised this coach to change his stance and give the promising lad a break in the game he loves most.

The magnificent Seven

A leading schools cricket team in Colombo is now playing their first XI games with a junior team. The reason for it is that seven of their top level cricketers had gone on a binge after a cricket game on the style of the Englishmen. Now the team has to suffer with this second string outfit. The authorities having come to know of this folly had slammed a month’s ban on the seven cricketers and their term will end only on February 1.
