Ranil seeks re-election as UNP leader

Ranil Wickremesinghe will seek re-election as leader when the United National Party’s Working Committee meets on Wednesday.

Siri Kotha, the UNP headquarters, is now making arrangements to conduct elections for the post of leader as well as other officials.

Ahead of electing the leader and other officials, the Working Committee is expected to discuss a resolution that will stipulate the guidelines under which members could contest for official positions. For leader Wickremesinghe and his rivals, the so called reformist group led by Sajith Premadasa, Wednesday’s decisions will be most significant.
