The music of ‘Kohinoor’, launches Chaaya Tranz Hikkaduwa

The newly re-opened Chaaya Tranz celebrating the liberal lifestyle of Hikkaduwa had its launch full of colour, light and entertainment. Especially flown in from Norway for the occasion was ‘Kohinoor’, a six-member band that entertained guests with a mix between world music and dance hall with a touch of the Rasta philosophy for guests at the launch.

Kohinoor, the band leader was born in Bangladesh and migrated to Norway when just three. She brings a touch of Bangladesh and Jamaica to her rhythms. The band’s five other members were Simen Robertsen, key board player, Monica Rennan Hjelle and Camilla Veie – Rosvoll, back-up singers, DJ Andre Bravo and percussionist Chris Dhason.
