SLIIT and SHU to offer prestigious MBA degree programme in Sri Lanka

Long-standing affiliates SLIIT and Sheffield Hallam University (UK) collaborate to offer internationally recognised UK MBA programme in Sri Lanka.

Poised to be South Asia's new international higher education hub, Sri Lanka has much to offer in terms of high-quality education, propelled by government initiatives to foster relations with foreign universities to further the standard of education in the country and provide more opportunities for students. Marking yet another achievement within this sector, SLIIT has teamed up with long-standing UK affiliate Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) to provide students with an opportunity to receive a fully fledged UK MBA in Sri Lanka.

The business climate in Sri Lanka currently requires dynamic individuals who possess the relevant skills to address the demands and challenges within emerging trends in the industry. SLIIT and SHU have foreseen the needs and potential of this field and are presently calling for applications for the newly introduced SHU MBA programme, which students can pursue entirely in Sri Lanka and graduate with a globally recognised UK qualification.

Sheffield Hallam University's Business School is ranked among the top 30 in The UK. SLIIT has identified a well respected panel of experts, who hail from the relevant industries in the country, to conduct the SHU MBA programme in Sri Lanka to ensure that students will have access to only the very best facilities and academic resources. Entry for this programme requires that students possess an Honours Degree and managerial experience of two years.

"We believe that this is a vital pathway for students to gain an internationally recognised UK qualification right here in Sri Lanka, and an important step towards supporting and aiding the governments' goals to make Sri Lanka a knowledge hub in the region" states Professor S. Karunaratne, Chairman of SLIIT.
"The SHU Business School is ranked among the most prestigious universities in the world, and we are proud that our long-standing affiliation with SHU has had an impact on students' education and career, and in turn the relevant sectors in the country" elaborates Professor Lalith Gamage, President and CEO of SLIIT.

Dr. Theekshana Suraweera, Head of Business and Information Management Department highlights that fact that each unit is headed by a course leader, and local industry experts will also be brought in to supplement learning. "We want to provide a different experience for our students where they will learn from their peers as well as professionals in industry. Students are exposed to flexible learning methods with work-based assignments".

Enrolment is currently in progress for the SHU MBA programme, and classes will be conducted at a newly refurbished unit of SLIIT's Metro Campus, which will be fully equipped with all modern facilities and enable students to access the university journal database. SLIIT is proud to be associated with one of the UK's finest universities, meeting the demands of the challenging business environment and paving the way for the future generation of highly skilled academics.
