Funday Times - A Poem for the week

Poya

By Ishara Soza, St. Peter’s College, Negombo

The full moon poya day,
Is celebrated by many,
In a very religious way,
As this is a very special day.

Dressed in pure white,
Devotees go to temples,
To observe sil and offer flowers,
Hoping to find the true path,
With wishes for everlasting peace,
In their heart.

I love Poya,
Because it’s a holiday,
And I can play,
Throughout the day.
