Smile with Ranidu

Sri Lanka’s world singing sensation Ranidu released his fifth album ‘Hinahenne Mang’ last week. The album comprises sixteen band new Sinhala songs including his popular ‘Sebalaneni’, a tribute to Sri Lanka war heroes.

The song was released as a single last year and all proceeds from the songs were channeled towards ‘Army Seva Wanitha Fund’. According to Ranidu, the funds collected from the song have been used to build ten houses for the disabled soldiers and to provide much needed limbs for the heroes. Also it has used to improve facilities at the ward number 10.

The ‘Sebalaneni’ song was recognized at the MTV World Awards last year and was sponsored by Mobitel. It was the Mobitel theme for the year. The song ‘Meghatthin Nanam’, a Tamil song in this new album sung by Ranidu, Jakes and Bejoy was released in MTV India last week and hit the MTV (I) Top 40 Charts.

‘Hinahenne Mang’, ‘Amme Mathakai Nam’,‘Me Susum Rel’,‘Mage Nangi’, ‘Rajekuta Wage Bayai’ ‘I do’, ‘Athamita Kasi’, ‘Wisekara Arumaththi’ and ‘Club Eka Ethule’ are some of the popular hits from the album.

‘These songs are released to the Sri Lankan radio channels and most songs are hitting top notes at the moments’ a spokesman for Ranidu said. The album is dedicated to his family and there are three songs dedicated to his mother, father and sister.

At the moment Ranidu is working in San Francisco in USA attached to the Google USA. ‘This is my main place and area of work. Music is my favourite pastime’ he said in a special telephone interview with TV Times.

Ranidu will be planning a live concert in Colombo with his all supporting vocalists towards the end of the year. The album ‘Hinahenne Mang’ produced by CMB Records, Ranidu’s own record label and distributed by Saranga Records Pvt. Limited.
