Funday Times - A Poem for the week

Reading and its importance

By Asheni Dissanayake, St. Bridget’s Convent

Game boys, Play stations, movies and cartoons,
open up the world,
The most wonderful past time for me is reading
which I behold.

I was a tiny tot I read the
Ladybird series,
When a little bigger, Secret Seven and Famous Five and their
mysteries.

Then came Nancy Drew and
Hardy Boys which I couldn’t number,
Engrossed in Harry Potter,
Hogwarts and Voldermort
I couldn’t even slumber.

But now I’m bigger and delve into classics like Jane Eyre and
Wuthering Heights,
I believe that reading will some day make me a fuller man
and bring my life to light.
