St Peter’s clinch Under 18 10-A-Side title

St. Peter’s last year’s runner-up came up with a scintillating performance to clinch the Milo under 18 Division One 10-A-Side when they defeated Royal 21-3 in the final at Longdon Place yesterday.
St. Peter’s after leading 14-3 at the breather accumulated their points through three goals to the solitary penalty by put over by Royal. Kevin Anthony went over for two tries while Anuruddha Herath scored the other try with Canute Jerome making the three conversions.

The tournament organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Association and sponsored by Nestle Lanka Ltd saw 21 teams contesting while Wesley, Nalanda and Maliyadeva pulled out from the original 24 teams that were to play.

Quarter Finals:

Cup - Science beat Vidyartha 17-5, Royal beat Isipathana 6-5, Trinity beat Lalith Athulathmudali MMV 15-0 and St Peter’s beat Kingswood 12-7. Plate – Dharmaraja beat St Anthony’s 21-7, CWW Kannangara MMV beat Prince of Wales 1-5, Mahanama beat Lumbini MV 7-7 and St Joseph’s beat DSS 12-5. Bowl – St Sylvester’s beat Zahira while Ananda, Royal Panadura and Thurstan received walk overs.

Semi Finals:
Cup – Royal beat Science 10-5 and St Peter’s beat Trinity 15-12. Plate – Dharmaraja beat CWW Kannangara MMV 22-0 and St Joseph’s beat Mahanama 24-0. Bowl – Ananda beat St Sylvester’s 12-7 and Thurstan beat Royala Panadura 12-0.

Final:
Bowl – Ananda beat Thurstan 22-0. Plate – Dharmaraja beat St Joseph’s 19-10. Cup – St Peter’s beat Royal 21-3.
