Another children’s play by Nalaka

Story about a schoolgirl at Tower Hall, on June 5

‘Mama wenama malak’, the new play from Nalaka Swarnathilake, director of popular children’s plays and teledramas like Dangamalla and Anne opens on June 5 (Sunday) at Tower Hall, Maradana. Two shows are scheduled at 3 and 6 p.m.

Scripted by Nalaka himself, the story focuses on a school girl, Gimhani who faces many challenges trying to achieve her own dreams while her mother pressures her to focus solely on studies. Child actress Thisuri Lavanya (St. Paul’s Girls School) stars in this production supported by Nipuni Narmada, Tehara Kannangara, Chathurni Indrachapa, Ithara Silva, Pramodhi Artigala, Amaya Senaratna, Nuwanthika Kaushalya, Niromi Nawanjali, Chalani Himansha and Sanduni Edirimanna (from Vishaka Vidyalaya, Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Sirimavo Bandaranayake Vidyalaya and St. Paul’s Girls School). Royalist Akila Dayarathna also joins them.

The main adult roles are played by Sanjeewa Upendra and popular television actress Kusum Renu.
