| Early in the morning, as the sun begins to shine,
 Little animals and birds,
 come frisking by.
For the trees are bearing fruits, for them to enjoy,
 And little children awaken,
 to their cries of joy.
Smells of delicious food, come wafting by,
As the cuckoo coos to announce, that ‘Avurudu’
                        is nearby!
Some are out shopping, for clothes and gifts and toys,
Some are at home cooking, with the help of girls and boys.
Grumpy fathers tie up swings,For their children pester them so,
But they smile to hear their shouts of joy,
And push them to and fro.
Fireworks sound frequently,As to show that we are
                        prepared,
 For the great joys and
                        customs,
 That Avurudu will offer!
