‘Golden Battle of Ruhuna’ ends in draw

The big match between Vijitha Central College Dikwella ans Rajapaksa Central College Weeraketiya ended in a draw. This year’’s encounter the second in the series was hosted by Vijitha Central and took place at their school grounds. This game between the two districts of Matara and Hambantota is called the “Golden Battle of Ruhuna.”

Vijitha CC 122 in 43.4 overs (Ramesh Lakmal 17, Amith Udayanga 10, Subash Prasanga 16, Tharindu Yasarathna 31, Chalanka Weerasinghe 12; Dilan Madusanka 5 for 23, Chamith Kodituwakku 4 for 44) and 264 for 5 dec (Mahela Nambuhewa 34, RAmesh Lakmal 36, Amith Udayanga 16, Chalanaka Weerasinghe 38)

Rajapaksa CC 111 in 54.2 overs (Dasun Aravinda 24, Niranja Madumadawa 18, Cghamith Kodituwakku 30; Ashan Nigamuni 5 for 28, Ishan Dilruksha 2 for 29, Chalanka Weerasingha 2 for 39) and126 for 5 (Dasun Aravinda 40, Chamith Kodituwakku 31; Chalanka Weerasinghe 3 for 44) The following awards were made at the end of the game: Best Bowler – Ashan Nigamuni (Vijitha Central), Best Batsman – Ishan Dilruksha (Vijitha Central), Best Fielder – M.N. Sandeep (Rajapaksa Central), Man of the Match – Ishan Dilruksha (Vijitha Central).Minister of Youth Affairs and Skills Development Dullas Alahapperuma was the Chief Guest.
