Popular and talented actress Kanchana Mendis’ maiden theatrical performance under the direction of debut playwright K. Saman Thushara will go on the boards at 6 pm on December 30 at the Town Hall Negombo and January 28 at Lumbini theatre, Colombo.

Scripted by Rohitha B. Perera, the play starring Udeni Alwis, Kanchana Mendis, S. Nevil de Silva, Vincent Kariyawasam, Prabha Kumari, Ranshika Wimalasuriya, Gamini Fernando and Sudesh Nishantha, ‘Dharma Sangramaya’ is presented by Jana Pavana Cultural Group.

‘This is a political story depicting how the entire social fabric with its economy and culture is controlled by the political system. The play shows how the politician uses the social crisis to his advantage,’ said producer Saman Thushara.

Having played in a large number of teledramas and films, I was waiting for a chance to act on stage.
It was really a novel experience and I learnt a lot on acting by joining ‘Dharma Sangramaya,’ said well-known actress Kanchana Mendis.

Udeni Alwis actor and experienced photographer speaking about the play said that having gone through the script he was impressed sufficiently to play a role in it. “Even though a first timer, I am amazed at the dedication and expertise displayed by the producer Saman.
