‘Kandy Lamissi’ down memory lane on Prime TV

Songbird Mariazelle Goonetilleke takes a trip down Memory Lane on Prime TV Roundtable’s ‘Celeb Chat’ on Monday, 1 November at 9.30 pm.

Listen to her recalling her early days as a singer, travelling to all parts of Sri Lanka in her father’s kerosene-powered sunflower-yellow bottle-green Stude Baker car and sing to appreciative audiences. Better known as “Kandy Lamissi”, after her legendary hit song propelled this Nugegoda girl to fame, what does she feel when she hears other singers perform her hit song today.

Mariazelle has been flirting with death ever since she was an infant … and in later years in a nasty road accident in the Ramboda Pass after which she awoke at the Nuwara Eliya Base Hospital with broken bones and a fractured spinal column.Listen to her talk about the numerous ups and downs in her life … the many trials and tribulations she has been through … and how she has survived them all.

Her greatest wish is to visit the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Maria Zel in Austria at which she wants to pray one day.All this and lots more as host Kumar de Silva brings out the best of the half-a-century-plus “Kandy Lamissi” on PRIME TV (UHF 24 and Channel 75 on Dialog TV)
