Colombo International Nautical and Engineering College - (Cinec Maritime Campus) - Malabe - conferred with a Global Award

At the 16th APQO (Asia Pacific Quality Organization), International Conference on Quality, held in Kathmandu University, Nepal, from September 18-20, Colombo International Nautical and Engineering College, Malabe, Sri Lanka, was conferred with the "International Asia Pacific Quality Award 2010 - Best in Class - Education Organization" in recognition of its performance excellence, in the presence of world renowned quality Gurus, and representatives of quality organizations from more than 27 countries.
Colombo International Nautical and Engineering College (CINEC), the largest Maritime Education & Training Facility registered to operate under the Board of Investment (BOI), approved by the Directorate of Merchant Shipping of the Ministry of Ports and Aviation, has won the prestigious Sri Lanka National Quality Award for three consecutive terms of 5 years in a row; 1999, 2004 and 2009.

Colombo International Nautical and Engineering College, popularly known as Cinec Maritime Campus created history by becoming the only Education Institution in Sri Lanka to have won International Asia Pacific Quality Award - 2010.

Director-Quality/ Management Representative/ Dean of Faculty of Marine Engineering-
Mr.Ranjana T.De S.G.Punchihewa, and Systems Chief Auditor - Mr.S.M.Ratnaweera, delivered a joint presentation on "Best Practices at Cinec" at the invitation of APQO, at the conference.

Having established in 1990, 20years of continual improvement and development of CINEC is the result of the absolute commitment, dedication and untiring efforts of our faculty. Without them our intention of becoming one of the best Maritime training facilities in the world would have been a distant dream.
The foundation of our growth and success may be defined as the absolute commitment to Continual Improvements through Team work directed by Quality driven leadership, responsibly and safely to improve business performance with the purpose of safeguarding life, property and the environment.
"In the history of CINEC, it had facilitated many students from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives and Iran for maritime education. We have also received inquiries from countries such as China and Kenya for student enrolments. Meanwhile, we are in a process to receive students from Mauritius and South Africa where we need to set up training centres," Ceyline Group Managing Director, Capt. Ajith Peiris said.

Cinec Maritime Campus is equipped with state-of-the-art to Transas Navi- Trainer Professional 4000 Bridge Simulator with high quality photo textured visualization, improved to 270 degree vision and full mission Transas ERS 4000, Engine Room Simulator, Liquid Cargo Handling Simulator with ARI Multimodal 2004 Advanced, GMDSS Radio Communication simulator for integrated and more realistic education and training capabilities.

Our Officer Cadet Trainees are taught Meditation, Swimming, Yoga, 5S Concepts, and Ballroom and Latin American Dancing, adding value to their development to produce a Distinctive Brand "CINEC CADETS, with confidence, competence, skills, and correct attitudes.

Cinec is certified to ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System Standard, ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System Standard, OHSAS 18001:2007 Occupational Health & Safety Management system; and DNV Standard for Maritime Academies.

The TOP Management at CINEC believes in developing a corporate culture within a framework of professional ethics. From the inception CINEC has given priority to the quality of training programmes, to ensure customer satisfaction. With a team of well-informed Quality Improvement Steering Group (QISG), it has never been a difficult task to be ahead of significant developments in the field of Maritime and Industrial world.
