Kandy gets night bazaar

By L.B.Senaratne

A night bazaar is to be opened on Kotugodella Veediya (former Castle Hill Street), Kandy on October 30 to coincide with the National Sports Festival to be held in Kandy. Kotugodella Veediya is to be closed from 6 p.m. till midnight for traffic and the bazaar is to be held in the middle section of the road.

The holding of the bazaar has been approved by the Kandy Municipal Council. The organisers have called upon all business establishments on this road to decorate their premises and keep open their shops till midnight on this date.

It has been noted that after seven in the evening Kandy town is without 'life'. By providing opportunities to the business community and also giving the people the chance to do some night shopping it is hoped to bring some life to the town.

It is also hoped that similar bazaars would be held every month in Kandy.
