ANC Sponsors - Trinity College student for Sri Lanka Basketball Federation International Tour

Sports have many lessons in a student's life. The most important was given by Greg Hickman who stated "Whenever you get knocked down in the game of life, immediately get up, get better and get going again". ANC Education, Sri Lanka's leader in private university education added another dimension to this by sponsoring a talented and motivated student for the recently concluded Asian Basket Ball Competition in Thailand. Conducted annually this competition is the "test ground" for future generation basketball players. With leading teams from the region such as China, India, Japan, and Thailand taking part this is an eagerly awaited event by many basketball players and fans alike.

Learn to Lead ("Disce ut Ducas")
True to its motto the leader in Sri Lankan university education, ANC Education has been in the forefront of helping school and school athletes realize their full potential. During the recent past ANC has reached many high schools in Sri Lanka through student workshops, teacher training sessions, school sponsorships and many other initiatives to create opportunities for Sri Lankan youth.

Commenting about this latest initiative of ANC Mr.Gishan Sumanasiri - AGM Degree Completion Programs - ANC Education stated that "We believe that Sri Lankan youth has the potential to become the best in the world. They need the correct exposure, resources, attitude and education to realize this. The students must develop these skills both inside the class and outside of it. Much needed social skills including leadership, communication, and teamwork are enabled by sports activities."

Commenting on the sponsorship given to Mr. Randeel Senevirathne an A/Level student of Trinity College, Kandy Mr.Sumanasiri further stated that "We selected Randeel after careful observation of his performance over the past few years. Furthermore, this will further strengthen the relationship between ANC and Sri Lankan school sport sector. We will continue to assist talented and motivated students to realize their full potential through our university education programs - which reinforces this correct blend of theory with practice" concluded Mr.Sumanasiri.

ANC and Sri Lankan School Sports
From its inception ANC Education has been working closely with many National and International Schools to develop their talents. Many high school athletes continue their achievements in the university and ANC has provided ample opportunities for these talented students. This is clearly evident from the large number of national level Rugby, Tennis, Swimming, Basketball, and Handball players in the ANC student body.

Sri Lanka Basket Ball Federation (SLBF)
SLBF is the sole representative of Sri Lanka basketball to FIBA - ASIA and FIBA world body. Under its belts there are 26 associations all around the island which includes District Basketball Associations, School, Mercantile & Public services and Armed Forces. As at today, over 10000 members play this game all over the island.

Commenting on the sponsorship Mr. Noel Cooray team manager of the tour stated that "We really appreciate the assistance given by ANC Education on this occasion. The lack of funds available for foreign visits cause severe difficulties for students who are from middle / upper -middle class families.

Even though Basketball started as a sport restricted to a selected few, today it has become a mainstream sports activity. We truly value the help of private sector organisations to raise funds to develop this great sport in Sri Lanka. This is not the first time ANC has done this type of sponsorships for SLBF and our students. I thank ANC on behalf of all team members of SLBF Under 19 school team.
