The Foundation Programme provides a pathway to enter the degree programmes. Students with A-Level qualify for direct entry to the degree programmes.

APIIT - Sri Lanka also provides the option of transferring to an affiliated university in the UK or Australia after one or two years of study in Colombo. Students have the option of choosing from over twenty affiliated universities in the UK and Australia to complete their degree.

APIIT degree programmes are internal degree programmes and the degree certificates awarded by Staffordshire University are identical to those awarded to internal students studying in UK. There is close monitoring of the facilities and the conduct of the programmes by Staffordshire University to assure that the required quality standards are maintained. Further, as a higher education institute offering British degree programmes in Sri Lanka, APIIT - Sri Lanka comes under the purview of the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) of the United Kingdom.

A variety of sports, musical talent programmes, effective communication and personality development programmes and social service projects are organized by the APIIT Student Activity Club during the year. An entire floor of the APIIT Building is dedicated for student recreational activities for this purpose.
