The Foundation Programme provides a pathway to enter the degree programmes. Students with A-Level qualify for direct entry to the degree programmes.

APIIT - Sri Lanka also provides the option of transferring to an affiliated university in the UK or Australia after one or two years of study in Colombo. Students have the option of choosing from over twenty affiliated universities in the UK and Australia to complete their degree.

APIIT degree programmes are internal degree programmes and the degree certificates awarded by Staffordshire University are identical to those awarded to internal students studying in UK. There is close monitoring of the facilities and the conduct of the programmes by Staffordshire University to assure that the required quality standards are maintained. Further, as a higher education institute offering British degree programmes in Sri Lanka, APIIT - Sri Lanka comes under the purview of the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) of the United Kingdom.

APIIT quality assurance framework comprising regular external audits and validation of programmes by Staffordshire University, UK and APIIT-Malaysia and internal quality assurance processes has ensured that appropriate and effective teaching, support, and learning opportunities are provided to all students. APIIT - Sri Lanka also has the proud distinction of being certified as conforming to ISO 9001:2008 international standards for quality management.

Parents can be assured of entrusting their children's education upon a qualified and competent panel of lecturers. APIIT-Sri Lanka prides itself on having the best qualified full-time teaching faculty in the Sri Lankan private higher education sector; among the full-time staff are several who hold PhDs, MBAs and MScs. Student recreational activities are an important part of learning to provide an overall experience of university education and create well rounded professionals. A variety of sports, musical talent programmes, effective communication and personality development programmes and social service projects are organized by the APIIT Student Activity Club during the year. An entire floor of the APIIT Building is dedicated for student recreational activities for this purpose.
