A fairytale story, one with a happily ever after inscribed at the end, is a life that everyone wishes for. So, even though grown-ups may vouch that children's storybooks are just for kids, they would read all such books in the house.

Samia Cader, celebrated the inauguration of her first children's series, 'Forest Friends' on June 12, 2010. "I don't believe in fairies" and "Magic Kingdom" were the first two books of the series launched last week.
For Samia, writing for kids is all about letting one's imagination go wild.

After spending seven years teaching children, she just knew that she wanted to write a book for them. She wanted to provide them with something that would take them to a different world altogether.

"I used to make up stories for my children when they were young and they used to love it. This encouraged me to take this step," Samia enthusiastically says. We all know that you children are the toughest critics. Impressing children is a fresh challenge altogether and Samia has taken up this challenge whole heartedly.

The reason she attributes to her wish is to see every child think and imagine. "There is a whole new world out there and I want children to experience it. This is integral for their development," she explains.

The setting of the stage where the function took place was specifically made for the children and they simply loved it. With their favourite cartoon stars such as Sinbad and Donald Duck in the background and pictures of oranges, birds and monkeys on an artificial tree, children were all into grasp the new wonders that the books were going to offer them.

The function commenced with distributing candies to the children. It was evident that the event was specifically organized for them.

Children patiently waited for the launch of the two books. The chief guest at the launch was Elizabeth Moir, Principal of Elizabeth Moir School. She had come to the function with her entire family including her grand daughter, who seemed to enjoy it.

Children read out the contents of the two books and this they did with élan. Elizabeth distributed prizes to these children. Later on, games were organized for them. They were clearly the VIPs of the function.
The books are up on sale for a price of Rs. 275 each. They will be available at the Makeen and Lakehouse book stores.
