‘Arungal’ garner Raigam awards

Teledrama director Lalith Rathnayake’s ‘Arungal’ won most of the awards at last weeks Raigam Tele Award 2009, annual tele creation festival felicitating tele-talents.

‘Arungal’ won almost all the main awards including Best Tele Drama of the year produced by Saman Priyankara, Best Director and Best Script Writer- Lalith Rathnayake, Best Editor Tharanga Kumarasinghe, Best Actor-Jayalath Manoratne and Best Camera Dhammika Dissanayake.

Best Actor and Actress Manoratne and Duleeka Popular actor and actress Menaka and Nehara

The colourful awards the most popular actress was won by Nehara Peiris while award for the most popular actor was given to Menaka Rajapaksa. ITN’s ‘Ithin Eeta Passe’ was voted the most popular mega tele drama while Rupavahini’s ‘Isuru Bavana’ was the best in the regular category. Duleeka Marapana bagged the award for the best actress for her performance in ‘Isuru Bhawana’.

Among the other awards ‘Ithin Eeta Passe’ was adjudged the Most Popular Tele Drama (Mega) and ‘Isuru Bavana’ as the Most Popular Tele Drama (Serial).

Best Supporting Actor was Ranjith Silva – (Isuru Bavana), Best Supporting Actress: Avanthi Aponso (Isuru Bavana), Best up and coming actor Sumitha Rathnayake, Best up and coming actress Udayanthi Kulathunga and Best actor in hilarious role Priyantha Seneviratne.

Best Music Director was Sarath Wickrema (Arungal), Best make up: Vasantha Vittachchi (Ridee Ittankaraya), Best Art Direction Eheliyagoda Somathilaka (Ridee Ittankaraya) and Best Sound Recordist Yoshantha Nelson (Arungal)

Special Jury Awards were given to Susiran de Silva, Thusitha de Silva, Shanudri Priyasad. Nadee Chandrasekara, Vipula Vithana Gamage, Vilmon Sirimanne, Jayantha Ranawaka, Mauli Ferdinando, Dakshika Kulatunga and Sasanka Amaraweera.
