Union Chemicals profits rise

Union Chemicals Lanka PLC’s net profit increased for the three months ended March 25, 2010 as revenue and profit from operations recorded gains.

According to the company’s interim financial statements, net profit increased to Rs.13.1 million compared to a net profit of Rs.7.6 million for the corresponding period in 2009. Revenue for the period under review was Rs.162.7 million having increased from Rs.123.7 million the previous year.

Apart from the increased earnings, the company’s income statement shows that the cost of sales, selling and administrative expenses and other operating expenses all increased during the 2010 quarter while other operating income declined.
