"All Kinds of Everything" for Avurudu

The popular Avurudu bargain pola organized by the Sri Lanka Housewives' Association will be held on Saturday April 3 at the Public Library Auditorium from 9 a.m. to 5. p.m.

There will be stalls, offering items at bargain prices including sarees, shoes, bags, linen, costume jewellery, toys, food items, vegetables, plants etc. A raffle draw and lucky dip stall will offer valuable prizes. Hot lunches, snacks and drinks will be available. Be there early and pick your bargains.
Entrance is free!

Avurudu Salpila with a diferent

Mallika Nivasa Samithiya has given its annual Avurudu Salpila 'a face lift' this year. A mini 'Kala Pola' will be set up at the venue. Those who missed out on the annual event at Ananda Coomaraswamy Mawatha can walk into Mallika Nivasa to feast their eyes on some artistic displays by some of our budding local artists, and perhaps purchase some of their work.

Apart from this another novel feature will be a fancy dress competitition for children under 15 years of age. The sumptuous vegetarian buffet is always a big draw at the salpila.

Several other stalls will be set up to sell household linen, Indian sarees, books, toys, stationery, plants etc. as well as Avurudu sweetmeats. In addition a collection of well used crockery and cutlery items will be on sale at giveaway prices. So on Friday, April 2 walk down to Mallika Nivasa at 45, Visakha Road, Colombo 4 to treat yourself to some unusual bargains from 9.30 a.m. onwards.

Good Friday service

Three spiritual hours at the foot of the cross lending itself to a distinct experience of the power of love will be held on Good Friday, April 2, starting at 8 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Church, St. Lawrence Road (opposite Royal Bakery) Wellawatte. An anointed message will be delivered by Dr. Vijaya Corea. The service is open to all who may desire a wholesome spiritual experience.

Passion play at St. Sylvester's Church, Ethukala

Damon Croos plays the part of Jesus Christ and Christopher Miranda appears as Simon of Cyrene in the Passion Play to be staged at St. Sylvester's Church, Ethukala on Good Friday. The play is organized by the Ethukala Pasku Committee and can be seen live on www.rangalivetv.com.
