Kanchana also selected to show at Russia Fashion Week

She wowed the crowds at the HSBC Fashion Week and now Kanchana Thalpawila with her KT Brown label has been selected to show at Russia Fashion Week, the largest fashion week in East Europe.
Just last week, Kanchana was selected to show at Miami International Fashion Week. It is a first for a Sri Lankan designer to have her creations at such a prestigious international fashion week.

“I can’t believe this is happening, I can’t thank Colombo Fashion Week enough for these opportunities. I can only think of the doors it will open for me and for the Sri Lankan designers and our industry. I have heard of some of the big names who show in Moscow and I am excited,” Kanchana said.

Russia Fashion Week is one of Europe’s most important fashion events and Moscow being one of world’s luxury markets where key international brands like Prada, Dior and Armani among others have many stand-alone retail stores, Russia Fashion Week hosts some of the world’s biggest fashion designers.

“Kanchana did very well at HSBC CFW. Her collection was thought through and had a strong story to it. She is going to Moscow. Imagine a Sri Lankan designer showcasing on the same platform as some of the big fashion names, I feel the hard work is beginning to show results even though our industry still has a long way to go.

It’s a good start,” says Ajai V Singh, President HSBC Colombo Fashion Week Russia Fashion Week will be held from April 1 – 6.
