New way to rock

Popular contemporary rock band Magic Vinyl, will once again be taking the stage after a considerable hiatus from performing live. ‘Rockapalooza,’ an event that was initiated by Frontman of Magic Vinyl, Anil Balasuriya will take place on February 26, 2010 and will also feature several newer bands that have emerged in recent times.

The event is organized by Anils own ‘Rockapalooza Productions,’ a group who have been responsible for past events such as 'Divas unplugged', 'Dhyan Yathra' and 'Regenesis'.

The first 'Rockapalooza' event took place in 2008 and talking about the concept behind it, Anil explained that 'Rockapalooza' was an event that happens once every two months, this being the first one this year. The purpose behind this, Anil said was to give an opportunity for newer and unrecognised bands to be heard by as many people as possible and also to play with more established bands.

The line up for the evening will include bands such as 'Helter Skelter', 'Point Blank', 'Radio Factory', 'Mistress of Tranquility', and stop watch theory.

All, according to Anil, have their own distinctive sound and style so attendees can expect a diverse mix of Rock and Roll to keep them entertained throughout the evening.

The official TV partner for 'Rockapalooza' is ETV and print media sponsor is the Mirror Magazine. This event will take place on February 26 at Clancy's. Tickets Rs.500 will be available at the gate.
