Some kids' events at the GLF 2009

This year the programme on Saturday will take place at the Martin Wickramasinghe Museum at Koggala and activities will include a boat ride to Madol Duwa for the 12 – 15 year olds as well as a chance to interview Martin Wickremasinghe's sons and daughters.

On Sunday, when the programme will be held at Sanghamitta Balika Vidyalaya, Galle, children
participating will have the privilege of talking with Iranganie Serasinghe about turning the written word into a stage performance. Two international authors, Sandhya Rao of India and Mac Barnett of the USA will also be reading to the children and conducting related activities. Wendy Cope and Jackie Kay, two well known British poets will be reading poetry at the Dutch house in Galle at a tea party where parents and children can enjoy the event together.

The younger children aged 5 –7 years old, will have a programme of their very own at the Lighthouse Hotel where they will be read stories from around the world, watch and participate in a puppet show, make kites and meet Sandhya Rao's thumb print characters ‘Thum Thum Thambi’ and ‘Thum Thum Thangi.’

There are a few tickets left if you hurry to the Galle Literary Festival Box Office in Galle (at the junction of Pedlars' Street and Lighthouse Street.)
