Shalika cracks swashbuckling 172

Shalika Karunanayake cracked a swashbuckling and career best 172 as SSC amassed a massive 506 for 5, resuming from their overnight score of 356 for 5, against Badureliya CC on day two of their Premier Tier 'A' cricket encounter at the SSC ground.

Shalika's knock came off just 169 balls which comprised 15 boundaries and nine towering sixes. Shalika along with Lasith Fernando who supported with 102, sent the Badureliya CC on a leather hunt. The pair put on a partnership of 173 runs for the sixth wicket. Lasith' s knock of 102 included 11 boundaries. Badureliya CC in their turn - helped by half tons from T.N. Sampath and Tharindu Attanayake - ended the day on 253 for 5.

Seeduwa/Raddoluwa CC batting the second time was helped by a fine 121 from Mevan Fernando which saw them end the day on 279 for 7 giving them a massive lead of 353 runs.
