The Innomech '09 - showcase of 260 local inventions was held in the University of Moratuwa(UoM) on December 4 and 5. It was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering of UoM in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Colombo Reconnections, to create opportunities for local inventors to promote their inventions locally and globally.

UoM with the vision "to be a centre of excellence of higher learning and related activities with emphasis on national relevance, international recognition, innovation and creativity in Engineering, Architecture, Information Techno-logy and other allied professional disciplines" motivates the students to go beyond the books to do something big like Innomech.

Innomech '09 has attracted more than 5,000 participants, and it was a successfully organized event of the year. The unique feature of "Innomech 09" is that it will not stop by just appreciating those innovations, but they will be developed into marketable products using the Univers-ity's Talented Human Resources and technical resources.
