Weaving display of Goethe’s theory of colour

Textile expert Chandramani Thenuwara will make a presentation on Goethe's Theory of Colour along with an exhibition of handwoven double-weave fabrics and spectrum colour dress fabrics at the Goethe Institute this week.

Her presentation will be on Friday, December 4 at 5 p.m. and will include a brief introduction to Goethe's work on colour titled 'The Light, the Dark and the Colours' along with a documentary, the story of the creation of the spectrum and another documentary on sarees and double weave fabrics and a commentary on their design.

This programme was first presented in February 2006 and this repeat is being held as part of the Colombo Design Festival.
