Though the torrential rain nearly flooded the ground making for appalling playing conditions, it seemed nothing could dampen the spirits of the players and officials who put their hearts and souls into making the event a success. Though the football was hardly flowing because of the muddy conditions but the enthusiasm of the players was heartening to watch. Making up for the stop start fare dealt out to the spectators.

The beaten cup finalist St. Mary’s College, Chilaw scraped through in to the Final after beating St. Benedicts College, Kotahena on a toss of a coin, only to lose the game to the eventual winners Hameed Al Husseini in the same manner.

Nearly all matches from the Semi Final stage, in the Cup and Plate ended at a deadlock and had to be decided on penalty shoot outs and when some of those ended level again it was the dreaded coin toss which decided the winners.
