PCB has not approached me for coaching: Akram

Wasim Akram

Johannesburg: Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram has said that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had not sought his availability before offering him a short coaching assignment to train budding players.

The issue of dispute is over a fast bowler’s camp that the PCB had recently decided to arrange for budding players with the help of Akram, Waqar Younis and Sarfraz Nawaz.

“The PCB director sent me the offer letter when I was on my way to South Africa with my professional assignment. How could I agree when I have got other commitments that have been finalised almost four months back,” Akram was quoted as saying.

Akram is currently in South Africa for the Champions Trophy, and would be leaving for New Delhi after the end of the tournament to supervise the Kolkata Knight Riders bowling camp for five days.

Akram further said that he wanted to train Pakistan’s budding players for the sake of promoting cricket in the country, but would only be available after October. - ANI
