Judging by the enthusiasm with which team registrations are flowing in to the TMC ( The Management Club) desk at Galle Face Hotel, this year's Quiz event - TMC Wisdom 2009 to be held on Saturday 19th September will no doubt be a keenly contested competition.
It will be TMC's fourth consecutive annual quiz event having had three grand events during the past three years.
The inaugural Wisdom Quiz in September 2006 was won by the Royal College team while two teams of individuals led by Indika Jayasinghe and Mahesh Weerasinghe emerged the overall winners in 2007 and 2008.
Wisdom 2009 will be conducted from 4.30 pm at the Galle Face Hotel on 19th September. It will be a team event with 5 members per team and open to 4 sectors - Schools & Educational Institutions, Public & Mercantile Firms, Banks and Financial Institutions and teams formed by individuals - and not more than 40 teams will be registered on a first come- first served basis.
There will be 05 rounds, with 10 questions to a round covering current affairs, sports & games, science, history/art/literature/entertainment & general knowledge.
The overall winners will be awarded the "TMC - Wisdom 2009 Challenge Trophy" with a cash prize of Rs 50,000/=, the runners up will receive a cash award of Rs 30,000/= and a trophy, followed by attractive cash awards up to the 4th runners up. There will also be trophies awarded to winners of each sector.
The quiz will be conducted by Mr Ruwan Senanayake, who needs no introduction to those in the quizzing circle. Being a founder member and also the official Quiz Master of TMC whilst representing the International Quizzing Association of UK in Sri Lanka, he has ensured that a high standard is maintained throughout the competition thus giving the participants a chance to enhance their knowledge in a wide cross section of events and happenings covering a variety of subjects.
Registrations are now open at the Galle Face secretariat and further information if necessary can be obtained on Tel: 5860000. Though the closing date for team registrations is 15th September, those quiz enthusiasts who have still not confirmed their participation are kindly requested to rush their applications to the TMC secretariat at the Galle Face Hotel or call and make their reservation/s early as the number of teams taking part in the quiz will be limited to 40 due to logistical reasons. |
