November 11, 1982 was the beginning of the school which continued to expand. Started as a Montessori, within 10 years the school was able to send students for G.C.E. (O/L) and G.C.E. (A/L) (London) examinations with great success. During the past twenty seven years the Leightorians were able to achieve great heights in the field of education due to the determination, dedication and devotion of our founder managing directress Mrs. L.I. De Silva backed by a loyal hand of dedicated teachers guiding the students to achieve their goals.

The success at G.C.E. A/L and IGCSE (Edexcel) Examinations has always been above 95%. Many of the students have come within the top ten in the world, subject wise and every year there are Edexcel award winners at G.C.E. A/L and IGCSE examination. Extra curricular activities like Athletics, Cricket, Basketball, Netball, Swimming, Scrabble and Chess are provided with excellent results at Inter School Levels.

Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism and Islam are taught and English Language, French, Sinhala and Tamil are included in the curriculum. Our students have excelled and are excelling in recognized universities in the world such as U.K, Australia, USA, Canada, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Germany and Mauritius in the field of Medicine, Engineering, Information Technology, Accounting, Management etc.
