S. Thomas’ ‘A’ flew over the placid waters of the Beira Lake in the final of the Boys Coxed Fours event to win first place from Royal College ‘A’ easily. S. Thomas’ returned a time of 1 minute 48 seconds yesterday at the T500 Sprint Championships organized by S. Thomas’ College, Mt. Lavinia.
T500 is a 500 meter sprint event held for the first time this year. Seven schools took part in the Boys category with 6 schools participating in the girls events. This event was tipped to change the traditional face of rowing and it lived up to its billing with some hard fought, thrilling races which resulted in Ladies College walking away with the Thomian Challenge Cup for Girls and the Boys from S.Thomas’ College picking up the Thomian Challenge Trophy for Boys.
