A career in Graphic Design for Sri Lankan Graduates of ACU National
Australian Catholic University (ACU National), offers Sri Lankan students a range of study options in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, including in the areas of Visual Arts and Design, Business, Accounting, Nursing, Teacher Education and Environmental Science.

One successful ACU National graduate is Sri Lankan Malith Fernando who completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts and Design Degree three years ago.

Six months after graduation Malith became an Australian Permanent Resident and he is now a full-time Graphic Designer with Swann Communications, a global leader in security monitoring

solutions and IT peripherals. "I was interested in doing higher studies in the field of Art," Malith says, "but I couldn't get into the University of Sri Lanka. I chose to study at ACU mainly because the course description matched my interest of study. ACU course fees were lower than some other universities and the campus was situated in the city.

ACU Melbourne campus is smaller than many other universities but I think that is its biggest advantage. Everyone gets good attention from lecturers and has easy access to facilities.

I am very glad that throughout my three years at ACU the majority of lecturers helped me personally to achieve my targets. I am very thankful to them for helping me improve my knowledge and view of the world.

The best experience while in ACU was the opening night of my graduation exhibition. I received an appreciation award for my performance and was announced as "Best Performed Art Student of the Year".
I am glad I was able to have an industry placement while studying as it is very important to have such experience. In my case I was very lucky to work in a graphic design firm that allowed me to handle their real time jobs. Also they were willing to help me find a job placement after I finish my studies."

Malith also left his personal mark at ACU National. The International office reports that as a student he helped to design some of the promotional materials that they still use at education events internationally.
