Hotel Dulyana, Luxury in the ancient land

Anuradhpura is known to the world for its magnificent historical heritage and creations. Though the past is something to proud about, the present is jam between the dry and dusty city and the lack of facilities to the thousands of visitors to this sacred city.

Nearly 225 kilometres away from Colombo, this ancient capital is still trying to adjust to the modern facilities of Colombo. But since January, the visitors to Anuradhapura can enjoy the best of hospitality in the province.

Almost a five star hotel, Hotel Dulyana located in a new seven storey building housing the ASB mega fashion centre in the heart of the city, opened its door to the visitors coming to the city. Located right in the heart of the ancient Anuradhapura, Hotel Dulyana is the ideal gateway for exploration of this important historical city. The hotel is the tallest building complex in Anuradhapura.

‘We heard the ancient ‘sath mahal prasadha’ in Anuradhapura but this is the only ‘sath mahal prasadha’ the modern time of the city’ said Rex Janson, the General Manager of the Hotel.

Hotel Dulyana categorized as the most luxurious hotel, is the latest addition to the Anuradhapura hospitality. Owned by Jayasiri de Silva, the Chariman of the ASB Group of Companies, Hotel Dulyana boasts of 30 modern en-suite rooms and suites with all the facilities a guest can expect from a hotel of this standard.

The hotel, though it is fairly a new to the scene in Anuradhapura, is well patronised by the visitors and the pilgrims to the city.

‘Hotel Dulyana enjoys the all modern facilities, on par with Colombo hotels. But our vision is to give the luxury facilities in very affordable price. It is a luxurious treat where you can relax and get pampered with the outstanding hospitality, Sri Lanka is known for’ Janson added.

The Hotel Dulyana overlooks lush jungle, ancient dagobas and temples. The most unique thing is the 360 degree vision from the top of the seventh floor. From Mihintale to all the monuments of the sacred city can be seen from the roof top restaurant of the hotel.

Roof top is an open space for private and special functions, mainly at night. It can hold nearly 250 people with normal table arrangements. ‘This is a very popular place for family and small get-togethers’ he added The cuisine too takes a special place at the Hotel Dulyana.

‘We cater most of the authentic Sri Lankan dishes. But any global preparation too is possible with our experienced chefs. The cuisine is always based on the guests’ requirements’ explained Ralph Wessels, the Manager of the place.

Modern restaurant is capable of serving for 75 pax at one siting. Apart from, facilities and the cuisine, Dulyana has the biggest banquet hall in the North Central Province.

‘It can hold more than 450 pax at any given time. Weddings and large gatherings can be accommodate at this venue’ Ralph said.

Hotel Dulyana serves as a centre for excursions in the area. Located in the heart of the NCP, it provides the facilities to do the exploring around the Province.

Thanthirimal, Mihintale, Polonnaruwa, Vijithapura, Avukana, Maradankadawala, Ritigala and Managala are some of the interesting adventure and religious destinations can be explore using Dulyana as the base. ‘We arrange vehicles and guides on requests’ Wessels said.

The fullboard double rate ranges from Rs. 4700/- to 5000/- and H/b is priced at Rs. 3600/-
