"Tourism Travel and Flight Services" programme launched

Official launch of the "Tourism Travel & Flight services" programme of Seneca College, Canada was exclusively conducted in Sri Lanka by American College of Higher Education Dehiwela

Mrs Angela Bogdan High Commissioner for Canada, graced the occasion as Chief Guest at the Official Launch of the world recognized ' Tourism , Travel and Flight services', jointly conducted by the American College of Higher Education and the Prestigious Seneca College of Canada.

The American College of Higher Education, will conduct the first 2 ½ semesters of 10 months in Sri Lanka and the students will then transfer to Seneca College in Toronto, Canada for a further 1 year covering a study period of 8 months to complete the Diploma.

Her Excellency, who herself is a proud alumna of Seneca College, stressed the importance of this programme for the youth of Sri Lanka, with a host of job opportunities available worldwide. With the Tourism Travel and Airline trade expected to "boom" in the new environment of stability, she highlighted the important contribution that could be made by the 40 students of the 1st batch now in training and expressed her happiness that this unique transfer programme has been introduced to this country by the American College of Higher Education.

Her Excellency presented a special memento to each of the students to mark this very significant occasion, watched by their parents and a distinguished gathering.

The second intake of students for this unique programme is scheduled for September 2009.

Mrs Sherryn Yaseen Mangalagama the CEO of American College of Higher Education, in her welcome speech stressed the unique aspects of this programme where the Diploma confers a multitude of qualifications for various employment opportunities in the Tourism, Travel and Airline trade across the Globe. Vice President of Seneca College, Canada Dr. Mohammed Ali Khan sent a very special message of congratulations which was delivered by Mr Rohana Nanayakkara the Programme Manager - Seneca programme of the ACHE. Expressing the congratulations of the President Mr. David Agnew and the academic staff of the College, he said they all share this significant event in spirit and that "our shared aspirations will make us both stronger in the progress of delivering quality education to the youth of Sri Lanka and wished all success"

Seneca College is reputed for providing the "Best Government Funded Education in the world", with a record of 40 years of quality education. With105,000 students, 2000 are international students from 75 different countries worldwide with their valuable study courses being implemented in 25 countries including India and China.

The American College of Higher Education is a pioneer in American style education in Sri Lanka having transferred 1009 students for Degree programmes to the USA alone.
