Sarbjit’s canvas of communication

“Moments of Inspiration”, is the title of the first solo exhibition of Sarbjit Kaur, a promising young artist hailing from Pune, India. Sarbjit has lived in Sri Lanka since 2006. She took up painting as a hobby while in school but it was only after moving to Sri Lanka that she began painting seriously.

Sarbjit Kaur

A self taught artist, Sarbjit says she felt inspired to communicate her feelings, experiences and ideas through line and colour and has captured and translated the world around her onto canvas and paper.

Her paintings cover a wide range of subjects including landscapes, wildlife and designs and these she has painted using oils, watercolours and acrylic.

While the landscapes, butterflies, and birds express a desire to be close to nature, her carefully crafted designs are expressions of her meditative moments.

Her paintings will be on display at the American Centre in Colombo from May 12 and will continue to be exhibited there till June. The artist can be contacted on e-mail sarbjit.kaur.art@gmail.com
